Barn Wedding Photographer: Sara and Rob

EKKKkkkkk! I love Sara and Rob!! I love all my couples, but it is especially special when I get to photograph not just people I love, but a dear friend too! Sara and I met a few years back at a local meetup. We just happened to sit next to each other and chatted up for the hour we were at our meeting. Afterwards, as any other meeting. We connected via social media and didn’t really talk a whole lot for several months. I had started planning a trip to New Orleans with another photographer and we decided it’d be much more cost effective if we had more folks join us. Well, being two photographers, we knew we would stop at every shinny little thing and take a photo, so we were limited to who we could invite. It would have to be other photographers, and since we’d be sharing a single hotel room…we also preferred 2 other women as well. Although me and Sara hadn’t spoken in awhile, we had connected so well that I reached out to her and asked her if she’d have any interest in joining us, and to my surprise, she said YES!! I thought to myself, “how cool is she?!!?!”. Not many folks will just hop on a plane and crash in a room with someone they’ve only met once. So, I loved that she was adventurous. And for Rob…yes Rob, I slept with Sara first…just remember that, lol.

New Orleans was an absolute blast and ever since then, Sara and I have chatted on a regular basis and even had dinner and wine nights together. Which will still continue, even with Rob now happily added to her life. So all in all, my point is…I’m super thankful that Sara trusted  me to capture her special day and her and Rob said their I Do’s.

I first met Rob when I was hosting a Vegan dinner party at my home. Sara brought Rob over and immediately, I could tell there was a strong connection between these two. They had only been dating a month or two or maybe even less? And they were already super comfortable with each other. It seemed like they had been together for years. Sara was so happy with Rob and Rob was happy with Sara. It was awesome! It wasn’t too long after that and all of a sudden….”I’m engaged!!” from Sara!!! It was the best news. Sara started planning the wedding and in order to get it planned so that they could be married on their one year anniversary, it also meant that Sara had to quick hurry and plan it all!!

She had the thought to keep it small and private. So, she choose to host the wedding at her parents farm property. Problem was, the barn was a complete mess! So it was blood, sweat and tears for months leading up to the wedding to get the barn cleared out, cleaned out and refinish/work all the floors. WOW. It was so much work, but in the end, very worth it!

Sara and Rob worked so hard to put the day together and I know they are so dedicated to each other that they will work even harder to ensure each other’s happiness forever! I love you both, you guys are truly amazing! And I’m so very happy to be a part of your lives!

I truly loved the color jacket that they picked out for Rob to wear. It was such a beautiful blue color and looked so great next to Sara’s dress!! Gotta love it when you do things a little bit different. It’s always more unique and personal:)

How cute is Sara??!?! Haha. She seriously has the most care free attitude. I loved it. And she was so adorable getting her dress on and strutting in it! I’m not usually one to say thing…but really, her dress is beautiful and it really does look way better in person! Once you can touch it, you just know!

Sara and Rob opted to do a First Look:) Which was actually such a great thing looking back, as it started to thunderstorm for about an hour right after the ceremony. It’s such a good thing we did this first and got to take our time taking beautiful photos of these two on the property. Gosh…I could have spend hours taking photographs of them all over the place. SO many options!! And you would never even believe that it was a scorching hot day too!!

Wow, Like I had mentioned before…just look at the barn and how beautiful it turned out! All the sweat and tears and hard work that was poured into this place make it look absolutely amazing!! I tried telling Sara’s father that he should really keep it this way for future weddings;)

Girl after my heart here!! Sara knows that Risque by Toad Hollow Winery is my favorite bottle of wine!! It’s the perfect blend of sweet without being too sweet and yet, sweet enough to be dessert for the seasoned wine drinker and sweet enough that a non wine drinker can enjoy it as well. AND because it’s sparkling, it can be used in lieu of champagne and taste great! [Sad Face] I was not able to partake as this was only 4 weeks after my little guy and I was so nervous about consuming alcohol while being a nursing mother, so I passed on my favorite!!
