Katie and Luke are tying the knot in Green Bay, but it didn’t stop us from hoping to our State Capitol to take some engagement photos all over the campus and surrounding areas.
I first meet Katie when she was a bridesmaid at a wedding I was photographing. I remember very briefly as it was Emelia and Austin’s wedding day. (love them!!) So I was thrilled when Katie contacted me because now I get to really get to know her and Luke. And….how fun is this??? The day after the engagement session, Katie and Luke were going to be hopping on a plane and visiting Emelia and Austin in New York. Firstly, I’m a little jealous. And secondly, I miss those two. I so loved documenting their wedding day and I know that if Katie was a special someone for Emelia, then she’d be da bomb to work with too. Which…she WAS!!!
I’m so glad we got amazing weather for our session despite October being so crazy with rain and mosquitos! It’d been a year since I’d last held an engagement session in Madison.
We first hit up one of the many gardens in Madison and then moved on to the Terrace where we could spend a wee bit of time on the water. Both spots were pretty popular as we ran into many photographers also taking photos. It was so fun to see and say hello to all the smiling faces that were also in the same boat.
You see, engagement sessions are some of my favorites. They allow both myself and my couples to get to know each other and really just have a great time as people vs. customers etc. I really loved our chat and our time. We explored and did awkward things which I’m sure Luke can account for as he was probably wondering what the heck I was asking him to do most of the time, haha. But in the end, everything was beautiful and we even had a fluffy friend join us too to top it all off!!
Their wedding can’t come soon enough. Katie and Luke — you guys are the sweetest and so easy to work with. Luke — I’m going to get you to work on those twirl moves for Katie. Lots of laughs and smiles. Thanks for sharing an evening with me!
