Choosing Wedding Favors

Recently, I’ve been assisting in planning my sister’s summer wedding and this topic came up. It never truly occurred to me how difficult it can be to think up ideas or come up with a party favor that you think your guests will like and enjoy. So, I’d like to drum up a few ideas for those of you that are still searching and could use a little inspiration.

Tips for choosing wedding favors.
You can never go wrong with edible items. In an efforts to avoid choosing a favor that your guests will never use, you can always default to an edible arrangement. Whether it be candy, cookies, or my favorite….mini s’mores packs!
Candy Bar or Treat Bar is also an edible item that is a big hit. Sometimes, just providing little baggies and giving folks an option to pick out a treat to take home is perfect.

Practical favors are always appreciated if you opt not to do an edible item. One of my favorite wedding favors was a set of luggage tags. How perfect! For me, I love to travel, so having luggage tags instead of having to use the generic ones that the airline provides was perfect and now every time I use it, I think of my clients!

Use your location. For example, if you are getting married in door county…find a favor that screams door county so that your guests get to have a little something from there. Some fudge from the local stores or small wine bottles from a local winery or some chocolate covered door county cherries! Possibilities are endless.

Themed or seasonal favors. If you are planning a winter wedding, why not select something that fits the season. Choosing ornaments for example is a great way to give a Christmas gift that people will hang up each year and think of you. Or if it’s the fall, making caramel apples would be fun too. And if you simply have a nature and rustic theme…give a tree! Planting something is always a great way to sprout a life together and can be very bonding for families to use it as a reason to get together and plant a special tree somewhere in their yard and watch it grow through the years.

Hopefully this gives you an idea of where to start and what to do and maybe even inspire you go create something special just for your guests.
