I just hit the order button on an amazing wedding album for Brooke and Chris and can’t wait for it to come in to show you all!!!
My favorite thing about weddings albums is that they are tangible items. It’s one thing to have beautiful photos that you can pull up online, or on your phone, on Facebook etc. But its another to actually hold an album and flip through the pages.
I don’t have many photos from my childhood and my family simply couldn’t afford any photos nor did we really understand the importance of preserving memories. The very minimal photos that we do have, I absolutely cherish them and love flipping through them. It’s a single album that is falling apart at the bindings and the photos are so old, they are discolored. And there are a handful of loose images that don’t fit in the book because the plastic pages are broken. But, all in all, these are the only photographic memories I have of my family when we were growing up. I talk with my couples all the time, and nearly all of them tell me about how they look through their parents wedding albums…and mostly, giggle at how “old school” and “old fashioned” their wedding was, lol. But ultimately, they just love that feeling of being present on their parents wedding day….30 some years later.
So for me, wedding albums are not only for you and your spouse to enjoy and relive your wedding day, but they are for your kids and grandkids. They are a family heirloom. One that you and your family members will look back on….when you are old and grey and go “wow grandma/grandpa…you were a looker!” LOL. It brings them into your world and for the briefest moment, they see and feel like they are a part of your history.
I love weddings and I love documenting this beautiful and special day in a person’s life. And wedding albums allow others to enjoy the occasion for many many many years afterwards. So, if you haven’t considered adding an album to your wedding collection, I would seriously reconsider. And even if you don’t order a professionally made album through me, that’s totally okay. But I would still urge you to make one somehow and keep it as an heirloom that you can have for decades to come!!
