Why the Name Change?

When I started my business 7 years ago, I initially planned on doing all things photography. And hence, the name Capture Life Moments seemed ever so fitting. Because at the time, I wanted to focus on all of life’s moments. I wanted to focus on weddings, boudoir, families, newborns and senior pictures.  I just love photography so much that I wanted to do it all.  But as my business grew and as I grew as a photographer, I realized that I became so much more invested when it came to weddings and boudoir. Sure, I absolutely enjoyed everything else too, but that spark…that true spark really came when I got to document two people starting their journey together. Every day my own marriage grows, becomes stronger, is constantly challenged; and yet…I could have never dreamed of asking for a better husband and partner. So when I document weddings, it’s a blissful reminder of how spoiled I’ve been to find that one person that is mine and always has my back. In the last couple years, I realized that Capture Life Moments no longer encompassed what I provided to my clients and what defined myself and my business. And hence, after a long debate with myself, the time has come to get a virtual face-lift.

But really, Why did I pick my name?

True story. I was stuck for a long time on what I was going to rename my business. I thought about my history, my past, and all the things that defined me. I thought about using my military background, my education, my degrees, and my family lineage and story. But in the end, I realized that my past is what shaped me to be the person I am today, but it doesn’t define me as who I am now or who I will be in the future. And hence, I tossed out all the ideas of using words from my past or my current environment, and held onto the one thing that I knew wouldn’t change. My name! And yep, I told my husband…thank you for an amazing 10 years of marriage, but honey, you’re stuck with me forever now cause I’m not renaming my business. LOL!!!! So, Colleen Bies Photography it was and I’m so excited to share it with everyone.

Will this affect current wedding clients?

Absolutely not. If you are a current wedding client, fear not. Nothing has changed besides my name:) Yay! Even though I am now Colleen Bies Photography; legally, it is a working name under the original Capture Life Moments business name. So, all existing agreements are still good. No worries about re-signing or doing anything extra. We are all good. You will still receive all the awesomeness that is me and my photography services. But if you have any hesitation at all, feel free to shoot me a note.

What’s with the film?

As many of you have noticed, I’ve been shooting on film a bit more and more. This is one new addition to my photography. The airiness and dreamy look of film is something I’ve always admired. And even with all our wonderful technology, this dreamy look that film gives is sadly, incredibly tough to replicate on digital. Because film is where my passion for photography began, I’m more than thrilled to be adding film into my photography. Worry not, adding film won’t change a thing either. You’ll still get all the amazing images you love…but you’ll just be getting a little extra goodness now.
