Thoughts on Thursday | Stop Seeking Approval

April 21, 2016

In my line of work, I get to work with and see tons of other creative individuals and really get to know them. But, one thing I’ve noticed, and yes, I am guilty of it as well, is that so many of us are constantly seeking approval. I’ve had my bad days, where I feel like I’m not doing enough with my photography and it brings me down, but I rely on a few close colleagues to get me through that rut and I’m back at it! (insert Break My Stride)

ain’t nothing gonna break my stride, nobody gonna slow me down, oh no…”

What breaks my heart, are those that get the advice, get the pep talk, and then still continue to seek seek and seek more approval, more advice, and more guidance. Don’t discount the approval you’ve already got!!

I totally get that some folks need way more help and it’s wonderful that they know it, and ask for it. But at what point, are you simply just asking because you are seeking for an unreasonable level of approval from the world?

No matter what your line of work is or what personal issues you have. It’s time to stop seeking approval. Stop seeking the approval of your parents, siblings, friends, peers, co-workers. Believe in yourself and that you are enough. Believe that your supporters aren’t strangers, but the ones that tell you they support you, without being asked. Believe in yourself!

AND IF YOU STILL DON’T BELEIVE….GO TO THIS LINK RIGHT NOW! And then jam out to some 80’s music till you can’t stop smiling 🙂
