I am Hmong

When I was my nieces age; admittedly, I hated being Hmong. I hated being different and never wanted to embrace who I was. It took quite a long time for me to grow an acceptance of my culture and history. More details regarding that topic in my Untold Story post.

But here we are today. My eldest niece and her boyfriend requested a specific photo session. They really wanted something in their Hmong attire and staged in similar ways to that of “old school” Hmong folks. I absolutely adored this session and love it so much that the next generation of Hmong-American’s in my family are so open to our past and history. Something I never had and wish I did.

These photos make me smile big, smile true, smile nostalgically. Thank you Jules…thank you so much for asking for these. I’m so proud to be your Auntie and love you very much!
