Pretty Geeky Photography….say what??? Yup…if you don’t know these two amazing people, you should know them! First off, they are a husband and wife duo, and specialize in wedding and portrait photography. Not only that, but they photographed this FIVE year anniversary session for me and my husband…like…FOUR years ago. So yea…it’s been four years since we last had portraits done. That’s how much my husband hates getting his photo taken.
So…why did I choose to showcase our images from our photoshoot with Pretty Geeky? Simple…I didn’t have anything else to talk about and I’m not caught up yet to show you the “good stuff” Haha!!! Nah…I have been wanting to brag about Kay and Ty for quite some time. Cue foggy music…..many moons ago, in a strange land called high school, I meet Kay. It was so funny….she and my cousin were good friends and we came to hang out a time or two. And then…Kay had this amazing idea. Yup…I thought it was SO cool too! lol. She thought, hey…let’s create a calendar and sell it. We can all get dressed up and take photos and we would each get two months. Something like that, I’m a little foggy on the details as it was a very very long time ago. Needless to say, we did get all dressed up and we totally took awe;)some pictures with a fancy point and shoot (I think, Kay…you’d have to fill in the blanks here). And I don’t even remember if an actual calendar was made. But I do remember that we thought it was so cool and now, in hindsight, the pictures were not good, and not in the best conditions and the poses were…umm…let’s just say, not quite Vogue level. LOL.
Anyways, it wasn’t a shock to me when I find out that many years later, Kay had started a photography business with her boyfriend (now hubby). And she was doing amazing and just rocking it! BUT…this girl…she had moved all the way out to the west coast!!! Portland area she went and still resides today. Boo hoo!!! (insert childish pout face) I was so happy to get re-connected with her again and was super lucky to squeeze into an opening she had when they were in the area visiting family.
My husband and I don’t have many photos together…nonetheless professional photos. And since he hates photos so much, we didn’t even have wedding photos taken. Unless you count the awful Wal-Mart photos we did, lol. (I know..it was really bad…but come on…give me some slack, it was like 9 years ago) So, for our 5 year anniversary, I wanted some nice professional photos taken, and who better than a friend. I really enjoy spending time out at The Heidel House in Green Lake, so I wanted to go out that way for our session. We had a perfect day for our shoot. It was a June day, with warm temps but not hot, and a calm breeze. It even got a little cloudy which made it the perfect situation for photos! The wanderlust in me wanted to incorporate travel into our session since we love to travel!! And yes…we did make it to Norway the following year (I was pointing to it on the globe). Fast forward to today…we still have no professional portraits since that day 4 years ago. LOL.
BUT…that is about to change next week! My friend Shaunae Teske will be photographing me and my little family!!! I think now that our Stanley has entered our lives, not only do we have the most amazing son to be parents to, now have an excuse to have professional family photos done each year!! Yay!! I can not wait.
Thank you for sticking through the entire post, I know it was a little long one:) But seriously, I’ve got the best friends in the world and some of the most talented! Thanks Kay with Pretty Geeky and Shaunae for helping capture memories that I will always cherish!! Check them both out!
